This was the third time I have had the pleasure of capturing Tamara’s maternity session. The last two times were for her boys and this time for her baby girl! I really love being to capture one family’s milestones throughout the years.

It is so special to be able to capture these memories for them. I knew we had to do something girly and fun for her girl’s pregnancy. Tamara is more than just a client, she is also a friend. So I gathered her other friends and together we threw her a surprise baby shower. She is always doing so much for others it was time to show her the love back.

The gorgeous flowers here were made by Nicole of Floratherapie. Her hair and makeup were done by Yessie Libby. We told her she was going to my studio for her maternity photos. I told her to get dressed up and dolled up. When she walked in the door all of her friends and family were there to celebrate her and baby girl. She was so surprised and teared up.

After a beautiful shower, we did a mini maternity session with a bohemian vibe. Using this chair from World Market added a cute boho element. I shot this session all on Fuji 400 Film and had it developed by Photovision Prints. A few weeks later, I got to meet baby Hadley !!! I met Tammy and Hadley in their home when she was only 3 days old. I took a pop-up backdrop with me and shot most of these frames at 1/30th or slower (Seattle winters are dark !). I usually try to focus on the connections of babies and their parents versus just the baby alone. There is nothing more special than meeting your baby for the first time and those first few weeks at home are a dream.

Blue Rose Photography specializes in capturing babies first year including maternity, birth, newborn, 6 month and 1 year sessions. We use 100% film and have an organic and light-filled style.
When we aren’t taking pictures we spend our free time with our two babies, Lincoln (3 years old) and Bella (2 months old). We love nature and beautiful light.
