Mocktail Recipe: Hello Fall

We teamed up with Belinda (a rockstar mom herself) of Happy Camper Cocktails to create a series of seasonal mocktails for Om Mama Co.! I wanted our readers to be inspired to create a little something special for themselves, whether they’re pregnant, nursing, or choose not to drink alcohol in general!

This year for Halloween, Kevin and I were a little stuck on what to do to celebrate. It’s a Wednesday night, we’re not trying to rage haha and we don’t have kids yet to take around trick-or-treating (or dress up in cute outfits). But I’m all about celebrations and holidays, so I figured we should do something! We landed on watching Shaun of The Dead and drinking a festive cocktail! Just a little tradition we can have for years to come. I think it’s important to create new rituals for you and your family, as well as carry on some of your favorites from your own childhood. Recently, I heard of a couple that swaps Cinco de Mayo for St. Patrick’s Day! They eat at an Irish Pub on May 5th, and a Mexican restaurant on March 17th! Now that’s the kind of fun, creative tradition I can get behind! We hope you enjoy this delicious, festive mock/cocktail!

Hello Fall

Why this drink: It literally tastes like fall!

makes 1 serving

  • 1 spoonful of vanilla pear puree (instructions below)
  • 1.5 oz vodka or leave it out if you’re looking for a mocktail
  • 3/4 oz fresh pressed apple cider
  • 2 oz ginger beer, use a good one with lots of spice such as Timber City Ginger Beer
  • combine all in a glass of ice, stir, add garnish
  • lemon slice, cinnamon stick and sage leaf garnish

How to make it:

Make the Vanilla pear puree by peeling, slicing, and removing seeds and core, and pureeing 1 medium sized, soft pear with a handheld immersion blender, or a fork and some gusto. Next, split open just 1/3 of a vanilla bean and scrape the beans from the pod into the pear puree, stir. You will make enough for several drinks, or share this snack with your little one!

To make the drink, combine all ingredients in a glass of ice (copper mugs are great for this one!), stir, then add a garnish lemon slice (squeeze it in if the drink is too sweet for you!) and a cinnamon stick or a sage leaf garnish
