Be Like Jacinda Ardern ~ The First Step to Making a Difference as a Mom

Guest post by OMC member Aga Lawrynowicz, a certified life coach {on a mission to help mothers
get back time, live on purpose, and continue being a great mom along the way} and the owner of

Imagine a world where the overqualified moms abandon their invisible task list and participate in solving problems in their communities and beyond.

And while holding all the power, imagine these moms still having time to connect with their spouses, children, and family.

For most moms, this vision sounds like a utopian fantasy.

Jacinda Ardern at UN

Thank God for Jacinda Ardern, who shows how it’s done. She is the first New Zealand prime minister to be pregnant and give birth while in office. She was also the first female world leader to bring an infant to the UN general assembly in New York.

Jacinda Ardern is the leader that the world needs to change the culture around family and traditional gender roles.

Now, amid the pandemic, imaging moms having an impact on world-saving decisions is harder especially with so many of us taking on new responsibilities educating our children at home.

THE PANDEMIC IS HARD ON MOMS.

According to Melinda Gates, in America, women do on average 90 minutes more unpaid domestic labor than men per day. Modern men are involved in household chores and childcare much more than past generations, but cultural habits die hard.

As women, we are conditioned to be the nurturing caregivers and we are the first to ditch our personal projects to support others. Many of us have a deep need to be genuinely connected with our families and to prioritize them.

Another reason why working from home is hard on moms is the gender gap in childcare. It is real and it profoundly impacts mothers. This gender gap in childcare hugely determined my mission to help moms reclaim their time.

Now in the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to be aware of how we choose to spend our precious time. It is more challenging to find a moment for ourselves and many pre-pandemic options like a yoga studio, gym, or coffee shop aren’t available.
